Hands-on conservation at WWLT preserves
Join Woods & Waters Land Trust for our Winter Stewardship Days, where volunteers help care for protected lands during one of the most effective seasons for habitat work. Winter is an ideal time to remove invasive plants, when native vegetation is dormant and visibility in the woods is at its best.
Each Stewardship Day takes place at one of WWLT’s preserves and focuses primarily on invasive plant removal to protect native plant communities and wildlife habitat. Volunteers work alongside staff and fellow community members on meaningful, hands-on conservation tasks.
No prior experience is required. WWLT provides tools, training, and on-site guidance.
Stewardship Days are held monthly during the winter and last approximately 2 hours. Locations and specific tasks vary by site and weather conditions.
Why it matters: Winter stewardship helps prevent invasive plants from gaining ground in spring, protecting the long-term health of conserved lands.
Dates: Stewardship Days will be held on the last Wednesday of each month.
