Considering a conservation easement?
A conservation easement is a voluntary, permanent agreement between a landowner and a qualified conservation organization that protects the natural, agricultural, scenic, or historic values of a property. Landowners continue to own and manage their land, sell it, pass it on to heirs, or use it for approved purposes, while certain development rights are limited to ensure the property’s conservation values are protected for future generations.
At Woods & Waters Land Trust, we work closely with landowners to craft conservation easements that reflect both the unique characteristics of their property and their long-term goals. Every property is different, and every easement is tailored accordingly. Whether your vision is to protect a family farm, conserve wildlife habitat, safeguard forests and streams, or preserve a special place that has been part of your family for generations, a conservation easement may be an effective tool. Completing the form below is simply the first step in a conversation about your land, your goals, and whether a conservation easement is the right fit.
Protect Your Land, Strengthen the Watershed
A Conservation Opportunity for Landowners in Franklin County
Woods & Waters Land Trust (WWLT) is partnering with Bluegrass Land Conservancy (BLC) to support local landowners through the USDA’s Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). BLC is leading this watershed-wide initiative, and WWLT is working directly with landowners along the Kentucky River and Elkhorn Creek in Franklin County to protect land and water for future generations.
If you have property along the Elkhorn or Kentucky River and would like more information about participating in this program, let us know.
