Last of the Natural History Series – Wednesday April 26 PSPL Library 6:30!

What does this little insect, a caddisfly, have to do with our water quality?

Aquatic Invertebrates, small animals in our streams and rivers, are directly connected to what is happening on the land. Ryan Evans of the Kentucky Division of Water will talk about aquatic invertebrates in our streams and how they telling us about the quality of our water – plus keeping our watershed healthy.

Natural History Series: Furbearers

Furbearers in our area include mink, muskrat, beaver, raccoon, opossum, two kinds of weasel and fox, river otter, bobcat, coyote and striped skunk.  Laura Palmer, Ky Fish and Wildlife biologist, will discuss the habits, biology and habitat of these furry animals. Here’s your chance to learn more about these curious critters.

April 8 - First (ever) Volunteer Day with WWLT!

We will be pulling garlic mustard (see evil plant picture) at our nature preserve from 10 am until 1 pm on April 8, Saturday, and hope you can help. Meet at the end of Flynn Avenue (road behind Commonwealth CU on the Connector Road). Bring a lunch if you like!   

Pull a little garlic mustard and see our new preserve.  For more information email Deb@woodsandwaterstrust.org or call 502 229 1427.  

There are no trails so we will be working on a forested slope and along a stream.

Woods & Waters Land Trust hosts a Poetry Reading in downtown Frankfort at the Kentucky Coffeetree Cafe. Please join us for an evening celebrating community and conservation with poets Richard Taylor, Trina Peiffer and Mark Schimmoeller. This year we are thrilled to offer open mic for poetry from the audience for the last 15 minutes. This event is free, but reservations are required.

Vintage OFC 1983 Bourbon Raffle

Woods and Waters Land Trust was given a bottle of 1983 OFC Bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery.  WWLT is holding a raffle on Feb. 10, 2017 and will give this vintage bottle to the lucky person whose name is drawn. If you want the opportunity to win this bottle, all you have to do is buy one or more raffle tickets for $20 each. You do not have to live in Frankfort – we will find a representative to get it to you if you win!

Tickets may be purchased at Frankfort Tourism, Completely Kentucky or from any Board Member.  Tickets may also be purchased on-line.
