Woods & Waters Land Trust

People have strong relationships with the land. Along the Kentucky River they are tied to stunning cliffs that overlook the winding flow through Frankfort, Swallowfield, and Gratz to the Ohio River. They are tied to the green terraces and the rolling hills of the Elkhorn and Eagle creeks. Many people love their land and want it to become a living legacy; they wish to pass it to their family and ensure that it remains undeveloped as woods and farmland. The Woods and Water Land Trust was created to provide a way to help those interested in the long term protection of their land.

Another goal of the land trust is to contribute to the long term stability of the Kentucky River system and the services that it provides to everyone who lives here – services like clear air and water, and landscapes that help keep property values stable and quality of life high. Recent News
WWLT IS AWARDED TWO COMPETITIVE GRANTS through conservation programs, Kentucky River Authority and Beckham Bird Club.  Please take a moment and learn about these programs at
www.beckhambirdclub.org and www.uky.edu/OtherOrgs/KRWW.  Beckham Bird Club has been active in Kentucky conservation since 1935!.  KRA is a perfect partner for WWLT since both focus on the health of the Kentucky River.  These grants will be used to develop brochures/ displays and to directly contact groups and people who own land or sell land or have some involvement in protection.  If you like to design displays, are good at organizing information, are interested in learning more about the forests in Franklin County or just want to help WWLT, please consider contacting Deborah White (
Deborah.white@ky.gov) about this project.  We’ll find a place for your interests working on these new grants or other protection efforts.
